East Coast Karate Academy was founded by Master Lou Hopkins in 1977. Master Hopkins has specially developed a karate program in the martial arts style of Waza Waza. Both children and adults will benefit from this program. The emphasis of the school is on establishing self-discipline and courtesy. The structure of respect is built into the karate instructions.
The students of East Coast Karate are taught to use common sense before self defense. Along with gaining self confidence, the students develop coordination, flexibility and increased strength. East Coast Karate instruction involves freestyle competition. This helps develop a sense of fair play and sportsmanship in a controlled competitive situation.
The result of our program is a self-confident individual who does not need to intimidate or showoff to others. East Coast Karate Academy students are known to be ladies and gentlemen at all times throughout the martial arts circuit.
